7 p.m. at the Church of Christ on Etown.
*The 2010 Heartland Festival Canoe and Kayak Races will be held
Saturday, August 28th starting at 9:30 a.m. at Freeman Lake. The entry
fee is $15 per person or $20 after August 21st and race day.
Registration begins on August 28th at 9 a.m. Races will include:
Adult/child, Man/woman, Blindfold, Back-to-Back and more!
*A Kosair benefit Mud Run is this Saturday August 28 at the Larue
County fairgrounds sign ups at 5 and the event gets underway at 7.
"Where Are
You?" That's what the Central Kentucky Celebration wants to know. Come
out September 26th through September 29th at Central Hardin High School
starting at 6 p.m. each evening and enjoy live music from Christian
Artists, "Rush of Fools," The Community Choir, words from Evangelist
Jim Wilson and more!
Hardin Memorial Hospital’s 1st Annual United Way of Central Kentucky
Bass Fishing Tournament has been postponed. “Hooked on Helping” will be
held at Barren River Lake on Sept. 26th. For more information or to

The Sonora Community Crisis Closet needs your help! We are having a
fundraiser on Saturday, October 2nd, at 6:00 P.M. at the Sonora
Elementary Community Center (formerly the Sonora Elementary School).
The Crisis Closet provides free clothing, linens, furniture, household
items, cleaning supplies and food to low income families in need of
assistance. Most of these items are donated by people of these
communities (Glendale, Sonora and Upton), except for the food that is
purchased from American Second Harvest. Due to the increase in those
needing assistance, the Crisis Closet is running low on funds and needs
your help.
“Hooked on
Helping” will be held at Barren River Lake on Sept. 26th. For more

Look for the Hardin County Animal Shelter float during the Heartland
Festival Parade on Saturday, August 28th! The cute dogs that you see
will be numbered. Write down that number so you can adopt that dog
right after the parade at 116 Nicholas Street in Etown for only $20!

Be sure to see the "Toe Jam" benefit concert for Hosparus featuring the
band Two Feet High. The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August
28th at 223 E. Nalls Road in Etown, near Freeman Lake. Enjoy great
backyard BBQ and drinks for purchase. A $5 donation or more will be
accepted for Hosparus.
Collections are being accepted for the "Building a Wall Against Hunger"
drive with Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland, North Hardin Hope and
Helping Hand. The number one goal is to feed the hungry while uniting
the community. The canned food structure will be modeled after the
Vietnam Memorial Wall. Organizers hope to break the current record with
Guinness World Records for the Largest Canned Food Structure. You can
drop off donations at Commonwealth Broadcasting, 611 W. Poplar C-2 in
Etown. We are in the Roses Shopping Center.
The Wally Thomas 3rd Annual Golf Scramble for Camp Tessa will be held
Saturday, Aug. 28th at Doe Valley Golf Course in Brandenburg. Various
prizes will be awarded and lunch will be provided at the 19th hole. The
cost is $60 per player. The deadline to enter is Aug. 21st. For more

A new club in Hardin County is looking for new members. Rotaract is a
community based, Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women
ages 18 to 30. Rotaract’s efforts begin at the local level and focus on
the communities’ physical and social needs while promoting
international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship

Habitat for Humanity's ReStore accepts donations of construction
material, appliances, tools, furniture and household items. Hours are
Thur., Fri., and Sat. 9 a.m. to 1p.m. -Help the American Lung
Association by purchasing a Kentucky Golf Tour Book. Enjoy reduced

Honor Flight Bluegrass Chapter is one of the newest hubs of the Honor
Flight Network. The Bluegrass Chapter serves veterans in the Bluegrass
region. Donations to the chapter will be used to help transport
veterans from the Bluegrass Region to Washington, DC to visit THEIR
memorial. To sponsor one veteran, the cost is $250. However, any
donation amount help. A thank you letter for tax purposes will be

preserve the memories of Kentucky’s
fallen heroes and help their families overcome the devastation of their
losses. Please help those who have protected you by giving generously
to
the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, the only memorial in
Kentucky honoring all fallen peace officers and providing direct
assistance to those
they left behind.When registering your vehicles, ask for the Officers’
Trust license plate. $10 of the proceeds go directly to the foundation
to help families of those who have served to protect Kentuckians.
